What is Operation Success?
Operation Success had its origins in the fall of 2014. The primary goal was pretty simple. To help students have a better understanding and achievement in math and english, preparing them for STAAR testing!

Key to this mentoring program was the hope to engage community volunteers, including high school students . With these volunteers it would allow for an environment  of small groups and one-on-one conversations centering around the math and english assignments and concepts that students were engaged in during their regular class room work during the week. Principal Gary Holt and the Durham faculty oversees what has become a highly successful program. They  prepare the week’s learning goals for the students and then give the volunteers a guide for helping.

Student Benefit
Who can’t use a little help when it comes to math and english? Students in the 7th & 8th grade meet weekly in a one-hour after school program geared toward academic success. The program is staffed by teachers, adults, and student volunteers. Students are provided small group and one-on-one input.

Tutors Benefit
Tutors benefit by giving back of their personal academic knowledge and success. Most high school students and community adult volunteers can readily provide assistance at the middle school level.
